Salford university cheerleading started forming in 2003, it took lot of hard work, but the rewards were worth it. Within Cheerleading, your team-mates become like a second family to you and the memories you make last lifetime. Squad members share excitement and disappointment together. The Sirens have sweated together, laughed together, and planed together Tours, events and socials.
The Sirens are made up of 2 teams a stunt and cheer team and dance and chant team. You may be a member for one team or both teams.
Cheerleading is a great way of keeping fit, exercising and making new friends; we train for the stunt and cheer team on Tuesdays 6pm till 9pm and for the dance and chant on Thursday 6pm till 9pm. Each member generally trains in a Dance pirouettes, leaps and cheer motions.
Within the dance and chant team, we work around many forms of dance, using street dance, contemporize dance and jazz to create stylized routines, even in some cases creating theme dances around country and western, 70’s and even movies.
Within the stunt team, we aim to create a full understanding and knowledge, of stunting and how to maintain safety and proper progression working with Different Heights and levels building pyramids of up to three people high. It is not all about strength it’s mostly technique and determination.
So if you wish to experiment with learning how to stunt or wish to improve your stunting skills then the Sirens cheerleading squad is for you, learn how to cheer, create cheers, and hopefully enter a cheerleading competition.
